• Account information: name, email address, and password (stored as a salted hash, never in plain text).
• Military profile and retirement planning data: branch, component, planned retirement date, and checklist progress you choose to enter. This information is used only to personalize your checklist and timeline.
• Ceremony content: honoree details, schedules, guest lists, RSVP responses, guestbook messages, and photos you or your invited guests submit.
• Payment information: processed directly by our payment processor (Stripe); we do not store full card numbers on our own servers.
• Usage data: basic technical information (IP address, browser type, pages visited) used for security, rate-limiting, and diagnosing issues.

We use the information above to:

• Generate and maintain your personalized retirement checklist and timeline.
• Build, host, and operate the ceremony website(s) you create.
• Process payments and manage your subscription or order.
• Send transactional emails (receipts, RSVP confirmations, reminders).
• Detect and prevent fraud, spam, and abuse.
• Improve the reliability and usability of the platform.

We do not sell your personal information.

We share information only with service providers who help us operate the platform, under contractual confidentiality obligations, including:

• Payment processing (Stripe).
• Transactional email delivery (Resend).
• Cloud file storage for uploaded photos and documents (Amazon S3).
• Hosting and infrastructure providers.

Content you mark as public on a ceremony site (e.g. a public ceremony page) is, by design, visible to anyone with the link or who finds it — you control this through your site's visibility settings.

We retain account and ceremony data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal, accounting, or security obligations. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see "Your choices" below).

• Unsubscribe from non-transactional emails using the link in any such email.

Retire With Honor is intended for adults planning a military retirement or ceremony. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Honoree or guest information about minors may be entered by a parent or guardian as part of ceremony content (e.g. a guest list).

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
