Accessibility Statement

Retire With Honor is used by service members at every stage of a demanding transition, and we want that experience to work for everyone, regardless of ability. We are committed to meeting or exceeding the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.

What we build for

  • Semantic HTML landmarks and headings so screen readers can navigate the page structure.
  • A “skip to main content” link on every page for keyboard users.
  • Visible focus outlines on every interactive element — never removed without a replacement.
  • Sufficient color contrast between text and background across our navy, gold, and warm surface palette.
  • Full keyboard operability for navigation, forms, and interactive components like menus and dialogs.
  • Respect for your device's reduced-motion setting — decorative animation is disabled automatically.
  • Descriptive labels and alt text on meaningful images and icons.

Ongoing work

Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time checklist. As we add features — including on ceremony websites customers build with our tools — we test with keyboard navigation and screen readers and address issues as they're identified.

Known limitations

Ceremony websites include content and photos supplied by individual customers. While our templates are built to be accessible, we cannot guarantee that every customer-uploaded image includes alt text or that every customer-authored passage meets plain-language guidelines.
