The Post-9/11 GI Bill can cover tuition, housing allowance, and books for eligible veterans and, in some cases, can be transferred to a spouse or dependent child while still serving.

The Post-9/11 GI Bill provides eligible veterans with education benefits that can cover tuition and fees (up to statutory limits), a monthly housing allowance, and a books and supplies stipend, with the percentage of benefits payable determined by total qualifying active-duty time. Benefit transferability to a spouse or dependent child is available only while the service member is still on active duty and meets specific service-obligation requirements at the time of the transfer request — it generally cannot be requested after separation. Veterans should confirm their remaining months of entitlement and eligibility tier through the VA before enrolling, since school-specific certification and VA processing timelines vary.
